MASON DIXON MARYLAND STATE PLAYOFFS

Mason Dixon noticed that there was no tournament crowning the overall Maryland State Champion for every age group in Youth Football. During the regular season, teams play more games within their conference than outside of it. However, the league's best teams may not play against another league's best teams during this time. Therefore, a playoff series was greatly needed in the postseason.

At the high school level, where a team finishes in their conference during the regular season determines whether that team will be invited to the post season playoffs.

Principals involved with Mason Dixon Sports were also involved with the former Maryland Youth Football, that later became NG360, which initially introduced the Maryland Youth State Playoff System. Mason Dixon has been involved with Youth Sports for over a decade and has decided to bring that excitement back to youth Football. The plan is to allow participation for every age group. Mason Dixon will crown a Maryland State Champion at every age Division from 7U to 14U.

The level of competition can vary among the same age group based on a variety of demographics such as population density, the play and emphasis of that area's local high school, and the emphasis of an area on a particular sport, to name a few. Therefore, the Mason Dixon Maryland State Playoff will host two (2) Divisions. There will be eight teams at each age group for both Divisions that will receive an invitation to participate in the Mason Dixon Maryland State Playoffs. Mason Dixon will provide and update on a routine basis the Maryland Youth Football ranking system for the top twenty teams of each age by use of a matrix and a coach's poll.

A Maryland team or a team that plays in a Maryland League that participates and wins their perspective age group of the Mason Dixon Bowl will receive an automatic bid. The remaining top seven teams, excluding the Mason Dixon Bowl winner, that qualify for participation will receive an invitation. Should an invited team decline their invitation, then the Mason Dixon Maryland State Playoff selection committee may invite the next highest team in the ranking. Games are played at state-of-the-art facilities where participants may be selected to play in “THE GAME!”, which is the Mason Dixon Allstar Game.
